Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. -1 Thess. 5:16-18
I know, personally, I need God's continual grace in the area of gratitude. I'm not, by nature, a very grateful person. But in light of ALL that Jesus Christ has accomplished on the cross--ALL my gain from HIS loss--I have SO much to be thankful for!
So... in light of the holiday... what are you thankful for!?
I'm grateful for God's faithfulness, in spite of this stubborn heart of mine!
I'm grateful for His neverending, all-sufficient grace that covers my constant weaknesses and failures.
I'm grateful for the Holy Spirit, who inhabits me and accomplishes in and thru me all that I cannot.
Of course, I could go on - but it's your turn. :-)
Seriously, in light of Jesus, EVERY DAY should be Thanksgiving Day!
For His PRAISE,
Bethany

I'm so greatful for God's mercy. He loves us enough to come after us when we go astray instead of giving us what we deserve: condemnation. John Piper said one time that the main theme of history and the Bible and purpose of all things is to display the greatness of the glory of the grace of God. I wholeheartedly believe that.
I have really been going over what gratefullness means. I was watching, I must admit, Extreme Makeover Home Edition and every time I'm staggered by the gratitude. I can only realize how much more my reaction should be that Christ demolished my former self and has built me as a temple. I should celebrate and be staggered by the enormity of that thought. I think we, in our gratitude are often trite. How would it be if we were actually staggered and amazed to a place where tears overflow because of our love for our family, friends, food, health, etc. That's what I'm grateful for, a change in my view of gratitude!!!!
