Elvis Impersonators...you sicken me deceitful ones

So I've often wondered what makes people dress up in awhite sequined suit with oversized belt buckles with gems on it and bug-eye glasses that could cover half the state of Arkansas, with their shirt unbuttoned to reveal a muscular hairy chest and wear their blakc hair greased to the max with the one little curly cue coming down in just the perfect place. Then to top it all off they snarl their lip. Blows my mind why thousands of people dedicate their lives to imitating a dead guy! I mean why in the world would any one want to spend their lives studying every detail of a historical icon, and mirroring their lives after his. Just crazy!
But...ooooh...then it strikes me...Ephesians 5:1-2 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. NIV I have to look and go, why am I not as concerned about being a Jesus impersonator as some people are about some Rock Icon! I want to live a life of love. Just like Jesus did, not begrudging grumbling, "Oh I've gotta be loving cus Jesus was, humph!!!" But rather, "Joy of all joys my Savior purchased me and I am dealry loved to be a loving person as an overflow of joy!" John Piper says love is the "overflow of God's joy in us that meets the needs of others." I want...no I need and must...imitate God and be a person of sacrifice. As we prepare our hearts for the "set apart weekend" I want us to be the kind of people that spend their time studying this person so we can walk with just the same strut he walked with, so we can"dress" (in righteousness) the same way our Icon did. So we can be like Him in His sacrifice and death, and call death gain. When you read this ask God to set your heart ablaze with a passion to become just like Him! "Take my hand/take my wholelife too/cause I can't help/falling in love/with You." Elvis 'Can't Help Falling.'

LOL...several years ago I worked at a plasma donation center. One of the regular donors there was an Elvis impersonator on the side. He really did look kinda like Elvis, even out of costume!
