I've been thinking . . .

Have you ever stopped to think what part of the body of Christ you are?

Are you a foot? That you should propel the body forward in the path the Lord lays out before you?

Are you a leg? That you would be a foundation built on God’s Truth, supporting the body's full weight (responsibility)?

Are you an arm? That your purpose includes surrounding those who are hurting with a comforting presence, or holding up those who need a lift?

Are you a hand? That you would reach out to those around you, touching hearts and lives with His Love?

Are you an ear? That you should be still and listen to the voice of the Lord, and what He would say to His people?

Are you the mouth? That you should speak the Words of God to those around you?

Are you an eye? That you would be a watchman, a gatekeeper, a guardian of Christ’s precious bride?

Are you the neck? That you are continually sitting below the Lord Jesus, your head, and turning his gaze and attention to the areas of need revealed by the Holy Spirit... being an intercessor and remembrancer of the Lord in prayer?

Are you a shoulder? That the Lord has given you the responsibility to carry the burdens of His bride?

Are you the stomach? That you would take in the food (teaching) given and digest (search) it... expelling that which is not beneficial to the body's health and strengthening the body with the nutrients?

For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. ~Romans 12:4-5

For the body is not one member, but many. For if the foot says, "Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. And if the ear says, "Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now there are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you;" or again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. ~1 Corinthians 12:14-22

And a final question: Are you actively fulfilling your function for the life of the entire body?

Love you all,
Bethany
