Isaiah 61 - Beauty for Ashes

Beauty for Ashes, garments of praise for my heaviness - take my heart of stone and make it Yours! I delight myself in the Richest of fare, trading all that I have for all that is better. You are so much better!
-"Beauty for Ashes," Shane&Shane

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

...to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Isaiah 61:1,3,10

Love y'all!

I love that song and that Scripture. One time when I was reading it, I heard the Lord whisper to me that "To have the true beauty, you have to have the ashes part first." In other words, we must become NOTHING before God can step in and do His thing. Before everything else, He was Creator. He loves to create beautiful masterpieces from our brokenness.

Thanks for posting that!

Shane and Shane are awesome! I agree Lauren...ashes (which is the fire of refining) must happen first before our beauty can be revealed and only through the fire of the King!
